Entering the United Kingdom.
Before attempting to enter the
UK, please take time to consult your immigration
status. Citizen holding passport of the following
countries do not require entry visa but must have
a valid passport for at least 6 months.
The countries are a) USA, Australia,
Canada, South Africa and Australia. Citizens from
the European community require a valid passport
but no visa too.
For visitors outside the European
community, the maximum allowable stay is 6 months.
In some cases, the customs officials may demand
to see a valid return ticket as proof that you
intend to return to your country of origin, and
a visible means of support while in the UK. It
is wise to obtain the visa to other countries
if you are intending to travel on from the UK.
A valid driver's licence and at
least one year's driving experience is required
to drive a car.

What will they let you bring in?
- Goods purchased outside the
EU are limited to 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars,
250 grams of loose tobacco, 1 litters of liquor
under 22% proof, 2 litters of still table wine,
2 litters of liquor over 22% proof and 2 fluid
ounces of perfume. The age limit is 17.
- Goods purchased in the EU are
more flexible. You may bring in 800 cigarettes
bought and tax paid in the EU, 200 cigars, 1kg
of loose tobacco. You may also bring in 90 litters
of wine, 10 litters of alcohol over 22% proof
and 110 litters of perfume. There is no restriction
on perfumes.
- The UK has a quarantine law
that keeps any imported pet in quarantine for
at least 6 months. This is in effort to avoid
rabies investing these sceptered isles. This
law is under review by the government. There
are no exceptions. An illegally imported pet
is likely to be destroyed at the owner's expense.
